Brickz avoids drug charges
By Lebohang Mpede , 21 Nov 2007Brickz (real name Sipho Ndlove), has avoided prosecution for the possession of drugs by opting to pay an admission of guilt fine.
The 26 year old award-winning Kwaito musician, Bricks and Jameson Mahlangu, 33, will admit their guilt to charges of “possession and use of drugs”.
The pair was arrested in December last year after being found in position of cocaine.
Brickz of of Sweetie My Baby fame counts Mapaputsi and Speedy as his childhood friends from the Zola neighborhood. Mapaputsi has had his own drug problems in the past and was banned from Sun City, in 2003, after he allegedly smoked dagga during the SAMA awards.
Brickz album Estokfeleni has been nominated for “Best Kwaito Album” at the 8th annual Metro FM Music Awards to be hosted this weekend.
Brickz and Mahlangu’s lawyer, Isaac Mabunda, confirmed yesterday his clients were willing to pay an admission of guilt fine.
Mabunda said “Ndlovu and Mahlangu had no pending cases and no previous convictions.”
The magistrate extended their R500 bail.
