Obie Tryce’s talent was quickly spotted by Gecko Lounge in South Africa, who immediately sent him to the UK to study professional music at Manchester Midi School. After completing his mixing course at the Technics Dj Mixing school in 2001,he teamed up with his mentor Jason Faber (of Rock Candi). He has since played along side Mr Edwards and Dj Pierre. During the many years of residency at Gecko Lounge he also played alongside Derick The Bandit. In 2004 he got the residency at club Satala, Rivonia where he also played alongside big cats such as Charlie of House Africa.

This rising Dj didn’t stop there; in 2004 he found himself playing Deep House after having spending a lot of time playing Trance! Leading to links with the likes of Clive Bean of Soul Candi, Mbuso of Phezulu records and Euphonik. He has found his Trance background to be of great help particulalry here in the UK where most youths listen to Garage.

Before coming to the UK Obie Tryce played at the YFM DJ meltdown competition which was a new platform for a different market allowing him to harness new styles of playing including new genres of house music which appeal to a wider and more international audience!

As diverse as London is I hope to see you in your numbers to support our Southern African Djs.
