DJ Cleo Assaulted by Guards

By Editor , 06 Aug 2008

Kwaito music producer, DJ Cleo, was assaulted by a group of security guards at Mmabatho Stadium where Bucs and Chiefs where playing for the Telkom Charity Cup. Cleo said he was meant to perform during the match intervals, but that was impossible after the battering.

Cleo who was with his manager, Given Ngwenya, was apparently assaulted by up to seven guards.

“I asked the guards to open the gates for us but they would not budge,” he said yesterday.

“They instead called us names, telling us they were not going to open the gates for us.We tried to show them our access cards but they would still not open for us. They said we were problematic and they would deal with us.”

The award winning Dj Cleo said, when they were eventually allowed entry one of the guards punched him on the back, that was then followed by a flood of blows that put him down.

Hundreds of on-lookers left the stadium to watch the celebrity House, Electro Dj get a thumping.

And as if he hadn’t had enough for the day, Cleo said he tried in vain to open a police case but the police officers refused.

Mmabatho police spokesman Moses Makgoabone confirmed the incident but said no case had been opened.
