‘if Not, Why Not!’ Delivered in Typical Feel-Good Fashion

EeS, The Feel Good Artist
Kwaito artists and Channel O Spirit award winner Ees is back with his latest album, which in true Ees style titled it ‘if Not, Why Not!’ On this album Ees manages to switch things up a little, and instead of the Kwaito beats he has been serving us all these years, he comes with a whole new flavour and delivers a 20 track House album.

Even though he is trying his hand at House adn adding a new dimension to his music, Ees manages to retain his signature NamFlava style. if

anything, the change from House to Kwaito adds to his feel good, “we’re having fun in the sun” attitude that comes out through his music. another thing about

‘if Not, Why Not’ that is synonymous with his other albums is the collaborations. anyone who knows Ees as an artist knows he loves to collaborate with other artists. On this album he features some acts that he has worked with before like, PDK, Mandoza and Sunny Boy but he also brings in some new and rather interesting features. One example is Kboz who can be heard singing on the track ‘Dance 2 Nite’. The album also features, Frieda (from Gal Level), Lil D, Dawuda, and South african afrikaans Hip Hop artist Jack Parow.

Except for a few tracks like ‘Go Low’ and ‘Good Times’ the album does not only have your typical House beats, that are now very popular in southern africa, but most of the songs carry a fusion of European House beats which comes as no surprise as Ees is currently based in Europe. When you hear songs like ‘Satisfaction’, ‘Fell the Sun’, ‘i Don’t Care’ and ‘Check it Out Now’, you have to wonder why Ees took so long to bring out a House album. The genre is a perfect fit for him and really carries his style very well.
