Kwaito Start Zola forms His Own Company
By News(source:SundayWorld-SA) , 13 Jul 2008Kwaito star Bonginkosi Dlamini better known as Zola has broke free of Ghetto Ruff and is now focusing on his own company, Guluva Entertainment.
Zola is now based at Guluva on a full-time basis but remains part of Ghetto Ruff as he has a 20% share.
“Zola owns shares at Ghetto Ruff but he has completed his contractual obligations with us. We are happy for him because he is growing” says Lance Stehr, CEO of Ghetto Ruff.
His up-coming album will be released under Guluva but Ghetto Ruff will continue to market and distribute his work. On his forthcoming album it’s worth mentioning that it’s on hold due to financial disputes between the star and his producer Tumelo Mokoena, aka Melo.
The Zola 7 TV star says, “I cannot release the album in Melo’s absence because he still needs to finish arranging the tracks he produced.”
Mokoena was to also release his own Afro-pop album under Zola’s stable.
Apart from Mokoena, Guluva boasts four other artists but Zola says he doesn’t believe in signing artists. He only licenses per album.
“I hate it when artists are unable to leave their record companies whenever they wish to because they are bound by contracts” Zola says.
Zola, who was cast as the notorious “Papa Action” in Yizo Yizo, shot to international stardom when he acted in the Oscar Winning Tsotsi in which he contributed more than half of the sound track.
