Mandoza’s Drink Driving Charges Dropped
By News , 11 Jul 2008Kwaito star Mandoza’s Drinking under the Influence of alcohol charges have been dropped.
Instead the Nkalakatha hit maker will face charges of culpable homicide - negligent and reckless driving.
According to metro police, Mandoza (real name Mduduzi Tshabalala) was not drunk at the time of the accident despite rumours that he was.
On Thursday, Mduduzi Tshabalala appeared at the Roodepoort magistrate’s court to face the charges. The Prosecutor, Mardie Human, confirmed that those were the only charges that the star was facing as his blood was not taken at the scene.
On March 1 Mandoza rammed his Chrysler Crossfire into a VW Jetta. The accident happened on the N1 on the Beyers Naude and 14th Avenue offramp. The Jetta’s occupants, Charles Shabalala, 39, and Felix Thebe, 38, died on the scene.
The case has been postponed to August 22
