Nonhle ready to pass on the O Access torch as Season 4 comes to an end

NonhleViewers across Africa have come to know Nonhle Thema as the feisty, fun, and often formidable host of Channel O’s O Access – a show that’s given the continent’s global entertainment fans up-close and unique access to some of the world’s biggest stars.

Now, as Season 4 winds down to a close after another dazzling run, comes news that Nonhle will no longer be the host of one of Channel O’s top rated entertainment show – and instead is “passing the torch” onto someone new.

Says Nonhle, “O Access has been a phenomenal journey for me. It’s taken me all over the world, meeting the most awesome people – including A list Hollywood celebs - and has been the number one watched show on Channel O for the past four years.” Among those who’ve been swayed by Nonhle’s skills and charm are Lil’ Wayne, The Game, Soulja Boy, Rihanna, Chris Brown, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo.

Adds Nonhle, “I feel four seasons later there’s not much more I can do for the show and it’s time to pass the torch and let another young African be an ambassador for Africa and continue the O Access legacy.”

For Nonhle, the move is also symbolic of her maturity as a television host. “I feel it’s time for me to grow and move on, whilst creating other phenomenal shows for my new family VUZU TV. I look forward to the new journey ahead and I thank all my fans, friends and supporters who have always shown me love.”

Just who will step into Nonhle’s phenomenally good (and always swagalicious!) shoes is still under wraps. “Viewers will have to keep watching Channel O to see,” is all the host of V-Entertainment will say!

In the meantime, there is still one episode left to see just how skillfully Nonhle is able to get under-the-skin of the world’s biggest stars – even those known for their reluctance to speak to the press.

O Access Season 4’s second Highlights Show goes out on Tuesday 9 February and it’s the last chance to re-live some of the best moments of the current season which saw Nonhle hang out with everyone from The Black Eyed Peas to Flo Rida, Cedric The Entertainer, Keri Hilson, Lady Gaga and many more.

Like each and every episode of O Access so far, there are a few surprises awaiting viewers – including an exclusive and revealing interview with Anthony Hamilton (who serenades Nonhle with an emotional version of ‘Charlene’) and a glimpse into the life of MC Lyte.
