Spikiri’s Dagga Rampage

Trompies member and kwaito producer Mandla Spikiri made a spectacle of himself by getting high in public at Mogodung in Alexandra, north of Jozi, Report the Sunday world (SA).

“How can a person of his stature smoke dagga in public? Our children, who regard Spikiri as their role model, frequent that place. They will start thinking smoking dagga is acceptable. It is time for our celebrities to respect themselves if they want their fans to respect them,” says a muso who doesn’t want to be named.

Another artist also condemned Spikiri’s behavior: “We know people smoke dagga for recreational purposes even though it poses a health risk,” he said.

As one of the master minds of the (DCC)Dangerous Combination Crew, Spikiri has produced a large number of hits for artist like Tokollo, Brothers of Peace, Jakarumba, Thebe, Bongo Maffin, Alaska and the late MaWillies just to name a few that are biased towards kwaito.

More recently, Spikiri has produced award winning song for Mafikizolo and Kabelo.

Beside the negative publicity he has received in the recent past, we still love him, simple because he does a lot for Mzansi Music and kwaito in particular.

With the dagga smoking and when looking back at when Spikiri swore at kwaito star Kabelo’s album launch , one really wonders if Spikiri still cares about his public reputation, or is it a Publicity stant?
