Taking One Step at a Time to Motswako Throne

Motso
It took some convincing before I could give the following artist a listen and when it finally happened I regretted not being one of the first music critics to have the opportunity to listen and interview the artist.

“Be worried! Actually, very worried… There is a new kid on the block by the name of Motso. The Setswana mrepa is walking around with music bombs! Based on a few songs I listened to, it’s only a matter of time before this artist become talk of the town” those were the words of Phathu Ratshilumela one of the best South African music critic/journalist. He goes on to say Motso impressively makes a song out of nothing. With massive beats, the artist offers a mind blowing tune, ‘One Step At A Time’ in which he talks about going back to his hometown.

“The album is intense and insightful, it is going to shake up the game and it is me at my best.”

After winning the beyonderz talent search on the 13th of June 2009, Motso‘s life has changed for the better. The musical journey started in his high school days when he was still a student at Mmabatho high where he also matriculated. Born in the North West in a small village called Lotlhakane in 1989, 21st of August, he attend his primary in DP Kgotlheng and he is currently a film and TV student at Oakfields College in Tshwane Pretoria.

Kgomotso Modisane a.k.a Motso has grown truly to be one of his generation ‘s most captivating rappers mainly focusing on youth issues and keeping them straight. His emphasises being on the positive things in life and advising people of his generation to stay in school and follow their dreams.

Motso‘s upcoming album is a direct reference of were Motswako and Mzanzi‘s music is going, a total burst of flavour. This album is of its own standards, taking Motswako to a whole new level. Motso himself describes it as cheesy music (music for a good ear) he believes and assures S.A that he is the best thing that ever happened to hip hop specifically Motswako.

For this younger star it is not about money, fame or anything beyond music in his upcoming album.
“I just want to get myself out there and let people know that I am here and to stay. The album is intense and insightful, it is going to shake up the game and it is me at my best. It has a pure plan and structured writing, it is free flowing and it can be called a work of art”, the artist says. His album 4rm nothing to Sum thing is scheduled to be realised by the 22 October but radio station are already pumping his hit singles one step at a time.

One important thing that stands out is the teamwork between the artist and those in the beats department. Motso is one extremely talented young boy who has teamed up with perfect producers who understand his musical dreams. Motso’s mission is to continue putting Mafikeng and rhyming in Setswana on the map. It is just a matter of time before he does exactly that, putting Mafikeng on the map.
