Tshedi (Malaika)-We have got a cute president

The Mzansi show’s Joe Nape and Quibell Ramantswana catch up with Malaika’s Tshedi and discovers her thoughts on South African men, her first solo single and the band’s tribute to Jabu.

The beautiful Tshedi was extremely pleased to perform Malaika`s UK
show in Leicester. Having recorded her first solo song- “The Obama
song” (a tribute to the president elect, whom Tshedi admit is “a cute president”) could this be one of the last shows for Malaika?

“Definitely, South African men listen, take care…”
-Tshedi (Malaika)

“Malaika will remain Malaika and we’re still maintaining. Bongani and
I are such a great team, we’re still getting enough bookings, and people are still appreciating and supporting us. We’re both good writers, producers and composers in fact!”

Indeed Malaika is still going strong since the tragic loss of Jabu,
starting on their fourth album next year, one that will include a song
dedicated to Jabu.

With the recent opinion poll on the character of South African men in
which they are deemed to be “cute, handsome hunks” we asked Tshedi for her verdict. “Definitely, South African men listen, take care, [and are] sweet, humble. They need care, support and they don’t need to be bitter. But you can’t mess up with them’.

The Obama song will be available for download on the 15th December and will also be aired on The Mzansi Show. The Mzansi Show is aired on futureradio every Saturday between 17:00hrs and 19:00hrs.
