Soul Candi has had to fork out a lot of cash on royalties to Sony BMG and Universal Music after DJ Kent, real name Khensani Mabaso, allegedly mixed the vocals of other artists without clearing them first. The house/electro DJ who was part of the famous Kentphonic group,has had his new album, “Mixing Business with Pleasure”, taken off the shelves until all the nitty gritty is sorted out.
As part of Kentphonic, DJ Kent has released and produced a number of popular deep and commercial house songs, including the popular, U Wrongo, for DJ Fresh’s Definition of House.
We all know that Kent has turned some ordinary songs (please read that as boring) into mzansi house hits, so one could argu his marketing Sony BMG and Universal’s Music’s flops, but well the big Record Labels are just after cash as usual. Can’t blame them can we?
